We’ve had an action-packed few weeks, launching three new features (Attribute Management, Settings Search and Filtering, and Extend Attributes), three weeks in a row, with no sneak peeks in between.

So I’m making up for lost time with a triple sneak peek at three new features I’m working on while the rest of the team continues developing projects like Flexbox, WooCommerce modules, and Loop Builder, all of which are almost finished.

We’re gearing up for an action-packed month!

So, what have I been working on in my free time? Let me show you. 👇

Find and Replace

One of my goals has been to fill the gaps and bring over missing features from Divi 4 while improving them. I did that with Attribute Management, Settings Search and Filtering, and Extend Attributes.

Next up is Find and Replace, a super powerful feature that allows you to make sweeping targeted changes to attributes across your page. Right-click on any field, then find and replace its value within a defined scope.

I chose to focus on Find and Replace because it will be instrumental in adopting Divi’s new design system, including variables. One of the best use cases for Find and Replace is to find static values in your Divi 4 websites and replace them with variables.

Element Inspector

I’ve also been working on some new features, my favorite of which is the Inspector. This thing is amazing.

You can click on any element to get a list of all the styles, presets, and content used in that element and its children. Then, you can quickly adjust those values across the entire set of elements at once.

The Inspector will be a unique feature to Divi 5 that you can’t find in other builders. Trust me, once you use it, you won’t want to live without it.

Group Carousel Module

I have also been testing Divi 5’s new module architecture, spinning up new modules, and getting ready for a significant push on module development.

I created simple modules like an Icon List and a Lottie module. Still, the most exciting module I’m working on is the Group Carousel module, which leverages Divi 5’s new group element. You can create a carousel of groups, and then build out the contents of each slide using Divi’s full range of elements to create any type of carousel.

Have You Tried Extend Attributes?

In case you missed it, check out my video from last week announcing the release of  Extend Attributes.

Many people have told us they miss the Extend Styles feature from Divi 4, so I dedicated some free time to bringing it to Divi 5 and making it ten times better. This is a seriously powerful surprise feature to add to the list of all the other great things coming to Divi 5. 🤩

Get all the details in this video. 👇

Follow And Subscribe

I hope you enjoyed that little snapshot of my personal Divi 5 side quests, which are far along in development. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them is ready next week, so make sure you follow and subscribe to never miss an update!

If you are a Divi user, you want to be subscribed to our YouTube channel. It only takes a moment to click that subscribe button. You’ve probably heard that a million times, but this time, take that moment, make that click, and follow along as Divi 5 makes its comeback. 😀

  1. This is really great, and love the new updates. I’m not using any of them however, until we can use Divi 5 on live sites. Would be great to learn how that’s coming and when we will be able to host live client sites on the Divi 5 platform. Cheers,

    • It available today for use on live websites. You can choose to use Divi 4 or Divi 5 based on your needs and preferences.

At this time, we can’t get rid of Divi 4 and force everyone to migrate, because there are still a few things to finish, such as Woo modules. Until then, we’re maintaining both versions and letting user’s choose their desired path.

That’s why we only recommend using Divi 5 on new websites at this time, where backward compatibility with Divi 4’s feature set is not applicable.

That said, Woo modules are almost done and we’ll be entering beta soon.

  2. Am I supposed to get this excited about these updates? 😅 Anyway great stuff!

  3. Great! Looking forward to a carousel module!

As a Divi user for a very long time I’ve watched the progress of Divi 5 and I’ve got to say that we’ve stuck with Divi mainly because we like your determination to get it right. And Divi did need to be fixed.

However, both our webmaster and I agree that we cannot justify upgrading from 4 to 5 without a clear understanding of what will happen to our site that has many pages and 100’s of blogs and is our primary marketing tool.

We’re also very concerned whether/when our plugins will be updated to 5. Most of the plugin developers we’re using have been contacted and they all say that they’re waiting to see what happens with 5 before they update their plugins.

Sadly, no matter where I look, I cannot find a clear description of what will happen if we move to 5. I’ve read nearly everything that’s come my way and I get the general drift but most of what Divi is producing is for developers/webmasters, not for end users like us (ie. our site was developed so that we could manage the backend ourselves). But even our webmaster is having trouble keeping up with what’s going on with 5. It all looks wonderful and I’m sure it will be great for new sites.

Which brings me to my main point. Can you please give your long term users like us a clear pathway for moving from 4 to 5. It needs to be honest and unimpeded by technical terms. And it needs to help us work out what to do with plugins – you can’t just walk away from plugins.

I have been carefully reading most of your updates and, even if you think they’ve been made clear on the above issue, I can assure you that from our end they have skipped over the most important points like what happens if I just update to 5 now? If not now, when?

    • Hey, Roger!

Thank you for your loyalty to Divi and for sharing your concerns as a long-term user. We truly value your commitment to our platform and understand how vital your site, with its extensive pages and blogs, is to your marketing efforts. We’re dedicated to making the transition to Divi 5 as seamless as possible for our users.

Divi 5, currently in Public Alpha, is a major upgrade focused on performance, stability, and future-proofing. However, we do not yet recommend upgrading from Divi 4 to Divi 5, as the backward compatibility is not fully stable for existing sites. We advise waiting until the Public Beta, expected later this year, which will be more reliable. For now, you can explore Divi 5 on a staging site to get familiar with its improvements, but please avoid upgrading your live site to protect your content and functionality.

Regarding plugins, many third-party developers are awaiting Divi 5’s Beta to update their plugins for full compatibility. Unsupported plugins may work in backward compatibility mode but could face minor issues or miss out on Divi 5’s performance benefits. We recommend contacting your plugin developers to confirm their update plans and reviewing the following resource for more details on backward compatibility and third-party module support: Backward Compatibility and Third-Party Divi Module Support.

When the Public Beta arrives, you can test the upgrade on a staging site by backing up your entire website, including the database, and using the Divi 5 Migrator tool (found in your WordPress dashboard’s Divi menu). This tool will convert your Divi 4 content to the new format with one click, preserving your layouts, pages, and blogs, as Divi 5 is designed for backward compatibility.

We apologize for any confusion in our updates. We’re working on clear, non-technical guides, covering upgrade steps and plugin considerations. Thank you for your patience and valuable feedback — it’s guiding us to improve Divi 5. For further assistance, please reach out to our support team via the Elegant Themes Help Center.

  5. Loving the updates and have used Divi5 on one of our most recent designs. It’s great however we found to our cost plugins like Rankmath Pro aren’t fully integrated because whilst elegant themes say it’s still in testing as a public alpha can be used for new designs, plugin developers are holding back until it’s reached official release.

My personal view (and would like to hear others point of view ) would prefer that you concentrate on making it live sooner and add features at a later date – at least this would help to ensure plugins will be compatible.

Could you maybe provide a time line – will it be this year? Or Within a few months an actual timescale would be awesome.
    Keep up the great work

    • Hey, Mark! Divi 5 Public Beta, a significant milestone in terms of feature completeness and stability, is expected later this year.

We are in the “ninth inning” to use baseball vernacular, making great progress. Thank you for your support! 😊

  6. I’m very much looking for the group carousel module. That’s a great new feature!

  7. I am using “old” DIVI on a site with woocommerce, and for several days, there are issues logging into the backend of my site and my site’s frontend not being visible. It also seems to be impossible to updated pages, I Could this be connected with DIVI?
