Let’s Welcome Our New Meetup Groups
Please give a warm welcome to our new hosts! October brought us two more Meetup groups, with four more organizers, and we’re ecstatic to introduce you to the hosts.
See below for introductions (in the host’s own words) and info on their next Meetups.
Divi Caracas, Valenzuela
Meet the host, Ciro Urdaneta:
I am a graphic designer of analog times. I began to devote myself to the web in the times of dial-up (1996). Similarly, a large part of the projects I make includes branding to the production of brochures and business cards.
I have been using WordPress since 2006 and I have been an Elegant Themes customer since 2010. I have developed more than 60 websites using Divi and in many of them, I integrate Monarch and Bloom.
Divi is an excellent template that allows you to develop high-quality websites very quickly, it is extremely versatile and extensible. Through these Meetups, we can strengthen ourselves through the exchange of experiences, as well as create a network with common interests
Divi Caracas has been on a bit of a hiatus but they have a new organizer and they’re super excited to get the community up and growing! We’re ecstatic for the Caracas community!
Divi Phoenix, Arizona, USA
Meet the new co-host, David Curtiss:
I have always had a mind for business and a knack for computers. During my last semester at Arizona State University studying Construction Management, I discovered the potential freedom of entrepreneurship and my passion for building websites. Fast forward 8 years of teaching myself WordPress and working my way through the undervalued ranks of corporate America, I was able to go fully self-employed in 2017. Through my journey, I’ve discovered that my happiness comes from following my passion and my success comes from reaching my goals. I want to share my experience to help inspire other motivated entrepreneurs to follow their passion and find their success.
I’ve been a member at Elegant Themes since March 2013 and I remember when Divi launched. I was so impressed with what Divi brought to WordPress I immediately saw the potential and made the decision to make Divi the standard theme for my company. I’ve worked with dozens of websites in Divi and I can pretty much build any design that is given to me with Divi. I have a couple of higher-profile ongoing clients such as State Forty Eight and the American Marketing Association of New York. Both sites utilize Divi.
I want to take my experience and show how WordPress and Divi can not only help with business’s websites but also help the efficiency and/or processes in the business. I have received so much guidance from the WordPress and Divi community and it has helped me become happily self-employed. I want to help others follow their passion and find success.
David has joined the Divi Phoenix leadership team. They meet twice a month so there’s a great chance a meetup will land within your schedule!
Divi Douala, Cameroon
Meet the host, Francis Fokwa:
I am the founder of Light Soft IT. A computer scientist by training, I discovered WordPress in 2015 and the same year DIVI, love at first sight. I continue to pursue my adventure on the net, until today. I continue to learn, everything from WordPress, DIVI, SEO to web marketing, which is part of my daily life. It is in this same passion that I launched Light Soft IT to boost the activity of young entrepreneurs like me. As a member of [Divi Douala], I continue to share my knowledge as much as I can on a daily basis with everything that is WordPress, DIVI, SEO and web marketing! I am passionate about working with small businesses and young entrepreneurs to help them grow and be more successful in their business.
They just got up and running. Be on the lookout for their first event! Yay, Douala!
Divi Melbourne, Australia
Meet the host, Aaron Winning:
Decoding human processes into streamlined automation for business and for life.
As a business designer, Aaron is an expert in leveraging entrepreneurial skills and qualities in business, corporate and non-profit settings. Aaron has the uncanny ability of tapping into people’s hidden talents for one of the most powerful tools in organisational growth and business. Aaron has been using Divi as the foundation of Digital Studio ‘FL3P’ and has helped to deliver over 150 projects based on the Divi Builder framework.
As Divi is our tool of choice, being able to facilitate a Meetup will allow us to share & engage in knowledge around Divi. It will allow us to connect with others who love Divi and seek to help all Divi built sites from Melbourne are amazingly epic!
This group is brand new and but meetups are already scheduled. Check out their first meetup!
Updates from Existing Groups
Do you attend any meetups in your area? What groups are you a part of? Some of us at Elegant Themes participate in our local WordPress meetups, PHP meetups, Startup meetups, and even a hiking group geared toward “geeks.” A strong community around any subject makes for some magical happenings. Are your meetup groups strong? What is it about your strong community that makes it stand out?
And while you’re thinking about your communities, check out the monthly happenings of some of our Divi communities below!
Divi Celaya, GTO, Mexico
From the Host, Antonio Martinez:
This month, we one participant, who will learn Divi from the beginning, we review in general what is WordPress, some Divi modules, as well as rows and sections, a quick review.
Divi Celaya is back at it and ready to grow their community. Don’t hesitate to join!
Divi Columbus, Ohio, USA
From the Host, Nathan B. Weller:
This month was another month of growth for our group. We’ve now hit 80+ members in our local group and enthusiasm seems pretty high at each event. In our last meeting, we completed an overview and hands-on demo of the Divi Leads split testing feature. As a gift to the rest of the community, we will be making the associated free layout available for download as well as the event description if other groups want to use it.
Divi Columbus cannot wait to meet you! Check the meetup out!
Divi Destin/30A in Florida, USA
From the Host, Joy Todd:
Our Guest Speaker Allen Brooks provided us with in-depth information on Google Analytics. As a Google Analytics Scientist, Allen’s knowledge and experience helped all of us improve our Google Analytics skills. Four of us attended the evening workshop. This group is really building a strong friendship and I appreciate all the different skill levels and knowledge that we are able to share. So far, the consensus is to continue to have evening meetings at Kelly Plantation where we have WiFi access and a quiet environment to communicate. Our next meeting will be about improving your Google page speed and to review the latest DIVI changes.
If you are located in the Destin / Northwest Florida area and build your own WordPress website or build for clients, we invite you to join us. In addition to the meeting topic, we are open to your questions and we welcome your participation. Example of topics that are commonly discussed: plugins, DIVI theme, DIVI tips, security, Google Analytics, Webmaster Tools, page speed, ADA, hosting, transferring a website, WordPress updates, filtering images.
We love hearing that friendships are being made! You should join if you’re in the area!
Divi Cairo, Egypt
From the Host, Mohammad Sobhy:
Our last meetup we talked in two parts
Part one: about the WordPress platform with Yahya Elharony
Part two: about Divi Builder with the last update theme builder with me (Mohammad Sobhy)
Great thanks for especially Eng. / Ahmed Rabie and ITshare Academy for encouraging me because they are helpful
The Divi Egypt community is welcome to all! Join today!
Divi Gulfport, Mississippi, USA
From the Host, Suzi Wilson:
We have 38 members signed up on [Meetup]. There is a lot of enthusiasm… Each week we go over new features and talk about how the interface works, etc. I’m going to the WordCamp event in St. Louis next week and I’m hoping to generate more interest based on my trip and experience there.
Are you in the Gulport area? They’d love to have your presence. Check the group out!
Divi Irun, Spain
From the Host, Pablo Moratinos:
After the summer, in the local Divi group in Irun (Spain) we have chosen to synchronize our meetings with that of the local WordPress community (just before your event). This favors that the most curious people come before to know the Divi group…
This past month we talked about the dynamic content modules in Divi. It was a very interesting meeting. More people approached than usual and we conducted a practical workshop showing how you can mount a post with a Divi template that shows dates, categories, authors and much more dynamically. We also discussed the new features of Divi regarding WooCommerce and all the new in version 4.0
Do you reside in the Irun, Spain area? Get plugged in with this great Divi meetup!
Divi London, Ontario, Canada
From the Host, Heather Peel:
We could have picked a better night for our meetup since it was also the federal election that day, however, we did have about 15 attendees in our combined meetup (Divi and WordPress). I was able to present an hour-long presentation on Divi 101 to a group of users who have not yet tried Divi (except for 2 people). I’m hoping they will give it a try and join our Divi Meetup group which is now up to 53 members! My presentation covered all the basics as well as a good discussion on some more advanced features and of course the new Divi 4.0 with the Theme Builder. The second part of the presentation was [a] live demo to actually show them on a live site how to use it. We also discussed Layouts, Divi Library and extending Divi with plugins as well as how to download and install Divi. We also went over how to use frontend or wireframe for editing and how to work inside some of the basic settings in Sections, Rows, and Modules. I’m looking forward to our next meetup!
Do you reside in the London, Ontario area? Get plugged in with this great Divi meetup!
Divi Los Angeles, California, USA
From the Host, Christian Mauerer:
We’ve been growing – yay! 7 people showed up & we had a great time socializing and exploring Divi 4.0. We also connected with WordCamp Santa Clarita!
There’s a ton happening in LA! Get plugged in with this great Divi meetup!
Divi Mexico City, Mexico
From the Host, Michel Jimenez:
We meet once again in Mexico City. The main objective has always been to talk about Divi, but we love addressing real cases of entrepreneurship in the contemporary world. We share experiences, good, bad and worse, that give us many teachings and the opportunity to improve each day.
The Mexico City attendees have so much enthusiasm. Be sure to join and catch it!
Divi Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
From the Host, Kimberly Huges:
Of course, the release of Divi 4.0 took center stage at our last meetup. Also, we’re going to start encouraging our members to share their websites with us via links in our Divi Society newsletters and on the screen at our meetups. Anybody who’d like tips, suggestions, workarounds, and comments on their Divi sites will get some time, probably towards the end of our discussions, to showcase their projects. We’re also thinking of having a holiday party at our December meetup.
Our group keeps growing, which makes us very happy.
The Milwaukee crew would love your presence if you’re in the area!
Divi New York City, USA
From the Host, Patty Rose:
Using Divi is very often related to business. So, as part of our meetups, we love to support entrepreneurs and business owners in our meetups with tools and resources that help make the most of using Divi.
In our October Meetup, we explored the various business tools that come built within Divi! We love this topic and we had a great time “talking shop.”
We explored and played with using the functions of these cool tools:
✅ Bloom: Gain More Email Subscribers with BLOOM, an Email Opt-In Plugin
✅ Monarch: Take Social Sharing to the Next Level with Monarch
✅ Divi Leads: Split Testing And Powerful Insights For The Visual Builder
✅ Divi Helper: Follow along with full-length instructional videos while you build your page and without ever leaving the builder!
We welcome you to join us for a Divi New York City Meetup. Whether you live here or you’re planning a visit, come say hello.
Be sure to check out their Meetup page for details on their next event!
Divi Phoenix, Arizona, USA
From the Host, Raquel Landefeld:
Our group has over 80 members! Our first meetup of October was held in Chandler (a suburb of Phoenix) and lead by our new organizer David! We are open to moving our meetup around the Valley so we can serve more. Our second meetup was back in DTPHX and we dove into the new 4.0 builder. Of course, we just got to the tip of the iceberg so we’re continuing to attack 4.0 at our next meetup on November 13th. See you there!
The Phoenix community is super active with two meetups per month! Be sure to join!
Divi Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
From the Host, Dustin Olsen:
The Divi Salt Lake is alive and well – and looking for more Divi lovers to join the conversation! Our group has been small in numbers each month, but we have had a lot of great discussions about how to do different things with Divi and WordPress. Everyone who comes always leaves saying the same thing, “I am so glad I came! I learned so much.”
We’d love to have your presence at this meetup! Join today!
Divi Seattle, Washington, USA
From the hosts, Bradon Garley & Shane Griffiths:
The Divi Seattle group is growing fast. We already have 81 members! At our October Meetup, we gave a demo of the new WooCommerce modules, followed by a Q & A session. Our next Meetup will take place on Thursday, November 14th. We’ll be going over Divi 4.0’s new theme builder. We’ll include some header and footer examples, as well as some tips and tricks.
Be sure to check Divi Seattle’s community out! Even if you’re visiting.
Divi Sydney, Australia
From the Host, Mitch Menghi:
We discussed the launch of Divi 4.0 Theme Builder and getting some hands-on experience with the Theme Builder, how to use it and what is possible.
We investigated the demo content and started to unravel how the structure works.
Many users have been anticipating the launch of the Theme Builder so we are sure from this meetup moving forward lots of new and exciting designs will be possible.
Australia is growing in the Divi scene this new meetup in Sydney! Do be sure to check it out.
Divi Toulouse, France
From the Host, Fifa Randrianasolo:
As a coordinator of Meetup Divi Toulouse, we have set 3 goals:
#Celebrate, #Exchange, #Explore.
So to celebrate our 1st Meetup, we gathered around a drink, in a place conducive to conviviality and exchanges. We discussed our expectations and topics to be addressed at the next Meetup: tutorials, dissecting the projects mounted with Divi, the novelties, the strengths and weaknesses of Divi. Thank you to all the participants: Carmen, Nicolas, Olivier, Arnaud, Eric, Daniel, Mathieu et Mathias #YouRock. It was just great!
Word on the street is Toulouse is beautiful! Do check this group out!
Divi Valencia, Spain
From the Host, Celine de Castro:
Our last meeting was held on October 21. It was a workshop where we all worked side by side with each other’s projects providing feedback and sharing knowledge. It was a great way to get to know each other and learn about each other’s style of using Divi.
This group would love for digital nomads to participate! Be sure to come if you’re ever in town!
