We’re excited to release Module Groups for Divi 5, a new container element in Divi’s layout hierarchy that lets you group modules inside columns. Using groups, you can manage and style module compositions.

Furthermore, groups will be essential in Divi’s upcoming flexbox layout system and loop builder.

Check out the following video to see the new feature in action. 👇

A New Container For Additional Layout Flexibility

Groups are a new container in Divi’s layout hierarchy of Sections, Rows, Columns, and now Groups. Groups can be added inside columns to group modules and put them into a shared container. Once grouped, your modules can be duplicated, dragged, dropped, styled, and managed as a single element.

How To Add A Group

You’ll see a new Group element when you click the plus button inside a column.

Groups work just like Divi’s other containers. Add it to the page, and then you can add modules inside, allowing you to compose complex modules out of simple ones and manage them as a single element.

Styling, Presets, And Global Groups

Once grouped, modules can be duplicated, dragged, dropped, and saved to your library. Groups support presets and can even be saved as global elements.

They can also be styled using Divi’s full range of design settings. This allows you to add visual separation between groups of elements inside columns.

Groupception!

You can nest groups inside of groups and rows inside of rows, unlocking ultimate freedom with infinitely nestable containers.

In Divi 5, there are no limits or guardrails!

Groups Are About To Become More Powerful

Finally, it’s important to note that Groups are about to get a considerable upgrade with Divi’s upcoming flexbox update, which is right around the corner, and that’s why we wanted to develop Groups sooner rather than later.

With flexbox controls, you can easily manipulate module ordering and wrapping within groups.

Furthermore, groups will be essential to Divi 5’s upcoming loop builder, allowing you to loop groups of modules inside columns.

Try Divi 5 Today

Module Groups for Divi 5 is available today, and it’s one of many features coming to Divi this year.

You can follow along as we progress through the final release of Divi 5 and beyond, with updates every two weeks. Depending on your priorities, you can use Divi 5 now to build new websites or wait until we add more features, whatever works best for you.

As outlined in Divi 5’s original multi-phase release schedule, the Divi 5 Public Alpha is like “Divi 5 Lite.” It’s missing a few features and may not be suitable for existing websites, but it’s ready to be used on new websites if you prefer the experience to Divi 4.

We want you to try it, and if you love it, use it; when everyone loves it, we’ll make it official.

Sneak Peek: Flexbox Layouts And Controls

We’re building features fast. Every time we finish a new feature, we start a new one. Whenever we start a new feature, I give you a sneak peek.

In case you missed it, check out last week’s feature sneak peek, where I showcased Flexbox Layouts and Controls.

We are overhauling Divi’s layout system to use flexbox and introducing a wide range of new row templates. Plus, Divi elements are being updated with flexbox controls so you can easily control inner content vertical alignment, wrapping, and responsive ordering.
