Divi 5 is nearing stage four, a Public Beta in Divi 5’s unique release schedule. Since this incredible milestone is soon upon us, we wanted to take the time to inform you about:
- The Unique 5 Phase Release Schedule
- Everything that’s already been done
- What comes next, and
- What role can Divi 5 play in your web design right now
The Five Phases Of Releasing Divi 5
Divi 5’s release follows a unique rollout designed to give users early access while maximizing stability and compatibility at every step.
The Dev Alpha and Dev Beta Phases were primarily aimed at our community of third-party developers. During these stages, the API and core systems were still evolving, and we invited third-party developers to test, experiment, and provide feedback before those foundations were finalized. This collaboration helped shape Divi 5’s architecture early on.
We were already confident in the product when we transitioned to the Public Alpha. As such, we made it available for download to every Divi Member to use at their leisure.
Where We Are In The Release Schedule
At this point, we are several months into the Public Alpha. We have always said that the Public Alpha can be considered a Divi-lite. The features that it does have are stable and ready to use on brand-new sites.
For perspective, the Public Alpha was released in September 2024. Since then, we’ve been working hard to add the missing features needed to transition to the Public Beta phase. It has all the core tools and stability you expect from Divi, plus the performance and flexibility of a next-gen framework.
More than that, since February 2025, we have added many new features with positive feedback. Thousands of designers already use it for production sites today. And good news, there’s more to come!
All that buzz excites us as we approach Divi 5’s Public Beta.
Our Release Cycle
Back to our Five Phases — these aren’t traditional development cycle terms. We erred on the side of caution and developed our own release schedule, definitions, and benchmarks to add more nuance about Divi 5’s current state.
We knew things would take a while and wanted to get a stable version of Divi 5 into your hands as soon as possible. This means that each user gets to approach Divi 5 on their terms. Take the plunge when you think it is ready and sufficient for your needs.
As you can see, most of the work for Divi 5 is well behind us. We’ve shipped most of Divi 4’s features and have had them available for the community for months. It has gone through broad testing by users outside our core development team and is even used on production websites. Many third-party developers are releasing beta and even final versions of their Divi Extensions. All of these signs point to a quickly approaching tipping point.
We understand the terminology can be confusing, but rest assured, Divi 5 is already in a mature, stable stage, ready for real-world use on new websites.
Being at the tail end of the Public Alpha phase means it won’t be long before the Divi 5 experience becomes the Divi experience.
Approaching The Public Beta
The Public Beta will signify a 1:1 refactor of all previously existing features in Divi 5 AND a confidence in the backwards compatibility system. We’re almost there!
The WooCommerce Modules are the last piece truly missing from the editor. You can build websites with Divi 5 right now, even eCommerce stores, but until those modules are converted to D5, they will fall back to the D4 infrastructure (thanks to the backward compatibility system).
Every week, we are hardening the backward compatibility system, and we’re getting really confident in the migration/update process from Divi 4 to Divi 5.
🧪 Try Divi 5 Out Today
Feel free to dip your toes in when ready. Back up your site, use a staging environment or test site, and don’t hesitate to lean on our world-class support every step of the way. You’re in control and can start learning your way around the new Divi at your own pace. Every update gets smoother and easier, turning this transition into a win, not a worry.
You can wait it out if you are uncomfortable changing over. However, each new update (every two weeks) is more stable and brings even more features than the last.
What Does A Divi 5 Final Release Entail?
We are as eager as everyone else to get to a final release. However, we’ve created a release schedule to allow as many people as possible to volunteer or opt into Divi 5 at their own pace. After the initial release of the Public Beta, each subsequent release will truly be more viable than the last.
The final release of Divi 5 focuses on slowly removing the option of using Divi 4 and encouraging all users to switch to Divi 5 entirely. This transition period should allow users to start adopting Divi 5 at their own pace. We’ll keep both Divi 4 and Divi 5 running during this last phase, but after that, we’re letting go of Divi 4. If this sounds scary; keep in mind that Divi 5 was built with backward compatibility, which ensures all Divi sites keep running on Divi 5.
At the final release phase, when Divi 5 is better in every way for every user, we will make it official and have it show up as a regular theme update in your WordPress dashboard.

This is a mockup of what the theme update will look like
That means Divi 5 will be ready for most users well before that point. If you find yourself palpitating over when Divi 5 will finally be ready, chances are that it’ll be sooner than you anticipated.
We’re eager to finally drop the “Divi 5” label and start calling it simply Divi.
Still, we’re trying to be as responsible as possible, even if it means having a more nuanced release schedule than is typical.
So, at the very least, jump into the Divi 5 Demo to see all the incredible changes that are already part of the new experience. If you are building new websites, consider using Divi 5 already. The new features are well worth it.
For existing sites, wait for the Public Beta to launch. When it does, go ahead and create a staging site and try updating to Divi 5. If you have issues, that is what a staging site and backups are for. Many sites will not have substantial issues and will immediately reap the benefits.
What’s the best way to give some feedback or request functionality? I love Divi 5 and I’m using it. The biggest thing I face is that I love getting the module settings on the left sidebar, but when I have it there, when I click to open layers, it doesn’t show. I have to drag the module settings out, release it, then drag it back and then it’ll stack nicely. I’d love the option of making that a default – i.e. controlling what’s pinned (or loose) and to which side, so that every time I reload the page or get into another page, I don’t have to do that same thing over and over. 🙂
But let me reiterate that while I liked Divi 4, I feel like Divi 5 truly is revolutionary. I feel it’s absolutely a pro-level tool, rather than a very-nice super-duper Front Page type thing (please don’t be offended, I’m jut using that as shorthand about my own prejudgices against Divi 4 – but hey, I used Divi 4 for about half my sites. I’m going to be using Divi 5 on nearly all of my sites, and I have a permanent license, so count me as a Divi supporter!)
