I wanted to launch my own site, and have the ongoing operation and management under my control, rather than outsourcing the build and control to an offsite developer. After countless hours researching site building product/service sites, blogs and reviews, I finally settled on WordPress plus Elegant Themes. As a novice, there were many stumbling blocks: sometimes user error (me - woops!), and other times a customization or other tweak at the system level was required. Elegant themes support team was there every step of the way. Not saying I didn't do my homework - I always searched google and the Elegant Theme and WP.org forums prior to messaging ET suppport (great resources!). But ET was (is) my partner. Elegant themes package themes are functional and visually appealing, and it was the best decision I made.
