Theme Sneak Peek: Nova

As always, we are hard at work on some great new theme concepts. Our new Event theme and Page Templates are coming along nicely, bu that’s not all! Today I am happy to give you a glimpse at another one of our upcoming themes, Nova. If you have been waiting for that crisp, clean, page-based design to compliment your business, then you are in luck. Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think.

  1. Gorgeous looking theme!

  2. Awesome new theme!!! ;-D Congratulations!

  3. NIce…

    Waiting that

  4. Wow, really nice looking theme!
    Great work!

  5. Looking good! I’d love to see some icons/thumbnails next to the tab text!

  6. how do you get your CSS3 Buttons to turn out so crisp?

  7. Great! I will be sure to renew my subscription next year! It’s been almost 1 year since I joined ET, and have not regretted it. The opposite for sure. Now I am exploring the use of ET shortcodes, one of those nice features that shows me the ET staff really care about their customers.

    • Glad to hear it πŸ™‚

      • Hi Nick
Just want to commend you for your work. In the development stages of
and other soon to be projects.
I’m really thinking of going with ET over studiopress. Really digging your design over all and can see a place for your themes in my projects. Pls give me some words of advice and motivation to make a decision soon. A few of the blogging heavyweights are using studiopress but your themes are killer.

  8. My only criticism so far would be that a lot of your more recent themes have full width sliders, so it would nice if you had the option of having a sidebar as well for advertising purposes, similar to what woothemes does with their canvas them.

Another great looking theme. Looking forward to it!

    • Hi Cascadeclimbers,

I agree that as website owners we all want to make some money, but definitely not on a corporate website.. i don’t see any or have ever seen any corporate website that has advertising on them..

  9. Not to be a downer but it would be great to get other designers to design some of your themes.

Increase your theme club price would be a good way to allow for this.

    • Houla ! “Increase your theme club price…” That’s not a really good idea ! Keep making good work.

      • I agree on the price increase. I can get a year subscription to ET for the price of one nice theme on ThemeForest, but the support and quality is not nearly as good as here. Other WP theme studios charge much much more. I would happily pay more money.

        • I hate to say it but it’s true. I would pay more to be an ET subscriber. I’m thinking $30 or $35 is fair. But you should allow old members to keep their previous price or maybe only raise it by $5 for old subscribers.

    • A little increase would be ok – for more design and suport-service.

    • I agree with this point. I think it’s high time ET brought some other designers onboard to shake up the approach to theme design and try and push for some innovation.

No offense to Nick, his work is outstanding, that is not in question here. But I’m sure a $10 raise in price wouldn’t hurt business and would allow for more flexibility and perhaps even attract more customers as a result.

Of course, Nick might not want to do any of this. But if you’re thinking about it, my advice would be to run a blog post and a poll + email to all your customers asking for feedback on this idea. Let the customers decide. I’m pretty sure that the majority will be in favour more design options.

      • I am with Cindy on this. ET has some very diverse themes. They have their “style” to them, but the themes are very different one from another. None of other companies give near as much design “bang-for-the-buck”.

I think you should be more specific as to where you think improvements need made.

I would pay $20 more easily to keep things the way they are.

    • um… why? The themes are beautiful and diverse. If you’d like something different, why not subscribe (for more) elsewhere? Nick has a great business model here, and no 2 themes are alike. Scratching my head as to why he would change a thing. Just my .02. πŸ™‚

  10. This theme looks great! When will this theme be available? Will it be easy to migrate items from a previous elegant theme into this one?

  11. Really nice, thanks

  12. Looks excellent. I think flexibility in the slider content is one of the keys. Whatever is in the slider should be automatically excluded from the blog-post homepage option. It should allow for video, image with text, or full-width images.

Cab we also have a “totally blank” homepage option so we can create our own homepage based on shortcodes ?

  13. NICE!

  14. freaky theme! can’t wait… : )

  15. Nick, I LOVE all your themes and am a paying member. However, on most of your newest themes the fonts look terrible (pixelated) on my Windows 7 Laptop with IE 9. I assumed it must be font-related and looks good on whatever browser you are using–that still should be fixed for IE–but now I noticed even the screenshots have certain fonts that are pixelated like I’m seeing on your live themes. Can you look into this or comment on it?

  16. looks amazing, cant wait to register here now with elegant themes. this impressed me now πŸ˜‰

  17. Perfect!

  18. Love your designs!

  19. whoohoo! eta eta eta !

    • I would estimate 2-3 weeks.

      • Totally agree, maybe it would be a good idea to include these new option in your older themes in future updates.

  20. It’s looking really nice! Can’t wait to see the live preview.

  21. Awesome business theme, Gorgeous Looks and usefull for every wordpress developers!

  22. Cool idea. Thanks πŸ™‚

  23. Hi Nick,

This new theme looks great but I ‘m really interested in when the new tutorials are expected to be ready.

    • They are being developed slowly but surely. I plan to update the readme files soon with what videos we have so far.

  24. very very nice

  25. I like that. I hope the main menu is not animated.

  26. Another great news to have new template.

  27. In the next few week I want to update my wp-elegant-page and I’m looking for elegant, clean, white theme. Good for photos. Hope that could be for me!!!!

  28. Great work,
    waiting for that

  29. You have a good team! Keep doing the good work!

  30. need technological themes, I hope to blog this

    Greetings, good themes

  31. *jaw drop*

Wow. (said like “Donkey” in Shrek) when he’s arriving in Far Far Away

  32. This pretty design

  33. I like the look of the theme and that’s what bothers me.

This sort of theme relies too much on sourcing a clean, high-tech, transparent photo to make it work. Your robot eye image is really what makes this design unique.

I’m assuming you didn’t design that robot image yourself but bought it from a stock photo site, right?

The thing is, realistically, how many people actually work in businesses that have that sort of graphic image associated with them? Very few right?

My feedback would be to say, please make designs that depend far less on EYE CANDY, and far more on a functional and realistic presentation of information.

    • There will be an option for non-borderless photos as well. So this shouldn’t be a problem.

      • Totally agree, maybe it would be a good idea to include these new option in your older themes in future updates. Thanks for youe greate work!!!

  34. Wow!
Now we are talking design πŸ™‚

  35. Please release soon.. I love it

  36. Hi Nick,

Looks like another great theme. Could you please create a coupon theme like retailmenot, couponcabin, coupon mountain etc. for coupon sites. A good coupon theme for a coupon site would really be awesome especially for affiliate marketers.

  37. I like the CMS look and slider and tabbed choices for users to be able to get into the service or product information they are seeking quickly from the front page. Good concept for products or services marketing. With a pricing grid and subpage Page templates this would be exactly what I am looking for.

  38. Clean and simple πŸ™‚ Also, if you can add a widget footer, it’ll be great as well πŸ™‚

  39. This is one great theme πŸ™‚ I love the simplicity of the design … Great job!

  40. This looks amazing I cant wait to try it out.

  41. Looks great.
    Looking forward to its release.

  42. Very very nice. I really like the seamless slider. Looks like I have a replacement for my current favorite theme – Simlepress.

  43. This theme is another great new theme concepts from ET. Looking forward for this upcoming themes, Nova.

  44. Nick can you please give us an ETA on Nova and Event theme ?

  45. Hi it looks great. The only thing I would change is the top menu. It’s too close to the logo. The search bar can be at the footer on the left side. Anyway that just my opinion the theme looks great.

  46. Really nice and has a look that might be trendsetting. Great theme!

  47. Did I get ripped off? I paid $39.00 through Paypal to join, set up my login information and can’t get access to the themes. I sent an email last week, but have not received a response. Please remit my payment or help me get logged in.

    • I would try sending another email via our contact page. I would also check your spam filter to make sure my response was not blocked. You certainly have not been ripped off.

  48. My feedback is twofold.

First, you’re one of the finest designers with a superb eye for detail.

Second, why must the design waste valuable “above the fold” space? Sliders and all the room they consume should be an option that can be modified in size at the very least, or disabled.

  49. Any idea of when this theme is going to be released.. I would definitely want to integrate this on a couple of clients just its ELEGANCE and SIMPLENESS

  50. I love this theme!

I love your simple themes, like this one, BusinessCard, Resume, Daily Notes. I hate that cluttered look, so I will probably wait to migrate my site over to this theme when it comes out.

More simple, uncluttered themes in the future would be awesome!

  51. Ohhhh, you know how to over deliver Nick, good job…

Btw I would love to see you bring out a good Blogging theme…

  52. Nick, you create lots of big, big problems for me!

No sooner do I launch a site using one of your themes and you release another one I like even more. πŸ˜‰

Seriously though, this theme looks like it’s going to be another winner.

    Keep ’em coming!

    Ian D

  53. How about one of the tabs being widgetized ?

  54. Very nice theme. The fonts are quite unique.

It would be a good idea to have footer with widgets as an option for all the themes.

  55. Wow, I love how you manage to create those clean designs with little fancy details! Great job! CanΒ΄t wait to see that one live!

  56. super !
    very modern, clean design.
    Love it !

First, let me say that all your themes are absolutely stunning and I don’t regret for one moment subscribing to this site. However I have two criticisms:

One is that although your themes are surely elegant in their design, they do not load gracefully. A lot of times random squares appear, the fonts look messed up, and it takes a few moments for everything to get in order by which time, well, the elegance is not there any more.It almost seems as if you need to put a small time delay before all the features load up properly so that the website loads as it was meant to.

The second is that you do not use version numbers for your themes on your download page so I never know when a theme has been updated.

    Best Regards

    • I agree. And also, would you consider making a theme with some other font in it? Your themes are all different from each other, bu you can tell, they were made by the same team.

      • Yes, version numbers are essential !

  58. Love it! Would you mind sharing where you get your stock images from?

    • I usually use

  59. sheer awesomesauce x 10!

  60. You have a gift my friend – your themes never cease to impress and amaze!

  61. Nick… this looks Sick!

ETA?! Knowing this will help me make a decision, for I’m in the process of doing version 2.0 of my site. Thanks!

    • I plan to release the theme on Monday. It is almost finished.

      • You are the man. I can hardly wait.

  62. will it have a portfolio page?!

  63. Awesome! Can’t wait to get my hands on it… πŸ™‚ Look forward to more of your great job!

  64. I’m heartily tired of the sneak peek now. Where’s the theme ?!

  65. when will it be released ?

    • It should be ready in a few days πŸ™‚

  66. As a professional photographer, i am really looking forward to see a clean (white) portfolio site based upon this new theme.

You’ll have a new client soon.

  67. Hi nick, one more superb collection added to the library.
    Eagerly waiting for the launch.

  68. Cannot wait to see one added to the range and ready for download! Great work guys….

  69. I love using your themes as a basis and then moving things around (a little bit) to suit my needs. Very glad I joined up. My web sites look better than ever. Thank you.

  70. Come on Nick…

    Stop teasing…

    We want it now!!!!! πŸ™‚

    • It should be ready on Monday!

  71. very sexy…another gun in my arsenal πŸ™‚

  72. Looking forward to the release, it seems to be great!!
I was wondering if I only can buy one theme, is that possible?

    • The themes are only available as part of the membership.

  73. its almost 3 weeks πŸ˜€ waiting mode ON

  74. I hope this theme renders properly in IE 7 & 8 – because AskIt doesn’t.

  75. I really hate WordPress designers because they tend to put a LOT of things on the home page and in post pages.

The ideal theme should look simple, leaving the top area for maximum conversions (a video, a picture or Adsense Ads), because the best theme is the one that makes you the most money, not the most beautiful, having a static page in the front and without more than 5 links total in all the page and by the way taking out idiotic things like “Blogroll” and such because only nerds understand what is that.

I saw all the themes here and I liked partially only 2 of them, but where very far from ideal, i fact, every time I browse themes I see the same thing over and over, lot of menus, complicated, a lot of links, options, etc, etc.

    What happens with WordPress designers?

    • Andres,

Normally I would not even give someone like you the time of day. But today is your luck day.

There are many reasons people use these themes. I like the themes here because they serve my client’s who use their site to subliminally communicate what kind of business they are. If their sites looked like the one you have linked here, no one would take them seriously.

These are professional themes for professional businesses. Most businesses do not want ads and junk cluttering up there home page like you do.

      • James:

What you say is great if branding is important, but not when you have to deal with immediate conversions.

I do affiliate marketing and in this business all you want to offer a visitor is very few options to choose so you have more chances to make a sale (or a click or an email subscription, any conversion).

Not even one WordPress designer think of affiliate marketers when doing their themes. The Glider is good, but don’t like the functionality.

The ElegantState is awesome for selling houses but not for me, the myresume looks awesome but doesn’t work like a normal blog, etc…

The other ones are full of menus, options, separators, pictures and so much stuff that the conversions will be terrible if you offer a product on them.

          • Thomas:

I looked the urls you send, are much of the same except the one from Matt. I knew socrates for some time now, but is the same.

FlexSqueeze is more for sales letters.

The Affiliate marketing them from Matt Carter looks promising (it is clean), I don’t like it too much, but since he tested for conversions, I will use it and thank you so much for the link (although I think he prepared that theme for physical products).

Would be fantastic is someone like Nick could do a beautiful thing with the simple design of a clean wordpress theme, that would be perfect.

        • Do you really get what business is all about in todays market, or do you just like complaining?

These themes are wonderfull and all fit different purposes and targets towards different audiences.

After having taking a look at your website.
All I can say its plai awfull and doesn’t attracht anybody’s attention as was said before.
Its just another amateurish website that shows with whom you don’t want to do any business.

Nothing wrong with that, but don’t start bothering people who take time to create different themes for different people.

I really hope, Nick neglects your comments and request and keeps focussing upon themes that really make a difference.

          • Greg

My site looks amateurish because I’m not a web designer, but that doesn’t matter because the conversions of this page are high in this market (that is the only thing that matters to me).

I will be glad if Nick could do only 1 theme with my ideas and probably will be his customer.

          • Mr Andres!

You must be kidding? How about tweaking and testing things buy your self instead of complaining when people actually give you help when they absolutely dont need to do that (dont know why i even bothered to place some links to sites that you actually can tweak to fit your needs).

  76. Very professional looking theme for a business wanting to update their image.

Will the “action button” link to anywhere desired (e.g. external site?) or is setup to link to post / page ?

    • Yes, it will!

    • It should be ready tomorrow. Stay tuned πŸ™‚

  77. tomorrow is for me in 1 hour lol its ready? lol

  78. “tomorrow” is today Im so happy, new theme for my company website πŸ˜€

  79. Its 13th of december here in Sydney, commmon team, lets bring out this theme, it looks awesome…

  80. We want NOVA! We want NOVA! We want NOVA! πŸ˜€

Here is 13th of December!!! πŸ˜€

    • It’s almost done. Hang tight!

      • Hi Nick!

You are doing a great job and is a incredible talented designer. Thank you for the oppurtunity to let me follow you on this incredibly excitement journey.

Sitting on needle every time you are releasing new themes. I am a lucky kid in the candy-store. πŸ™‚

      • When will be available ???

  81. Just give it πŸ™‚

will be certainly the one for my new mac/pc video tutorial website

  82. This is very cutting edge design. I really love the clever off white background and the cleanliness of lines, pages, thumbs.
You are a true artist Nick. Thanks!

  83. All I can say is WOW! Keep up the great work Nick.

  84. Clean and simple, that’s the way I like it!

  85. Super!
