New Theme: OnTheGo

My newest theme, OnTheGo, has been released today. OnTheGo is a completely hand-drawn theme that was scanned in and compiled to create a fresh and interesting design. It is fun and playful while maintaining an air of professionalism, and its unique appearance is sure to make your website stand out amongst the crowd. Creating OnTheGo was a lot of fun, as I have never tried to incorporate a physical drawing into a theme before, let alone base the entire design on hand-drawn line. For more information be sure to visit the Features Page and check out the Live Demo.

OnTheGo Features

This theme comes with all the great features you are used to here at ElegantThemes, including the ePanel Theme Options page and all the functionality it provides, complete localization and translation to English, German and Russian, and more. Here are a few stand-out features worth mentioning in greater detail:

1. Optional BlogStyle Layout – OnTheGo was created to be a page-based CMS style theme, however, you can also use it like a traditional blog by enabling BlogStlye Format in the options page.

2. Four Unique Color Schemes – OnTheGo comes with four different color variations, including Blue, Purple, Green and Brown. You can switch between these color schemes at any time via the ePanel Theme Options page.

3. Comprehensive Featured Slider – The homepage features a jQuery-powered slider. Unlike eBusiness, where the content of the slider is created using fields in the Options Page, OnTheGo gives you the option to popular the slider using Pages or Posts. You can define which pages to use for each tab, or you can simply designate a Featured Articles category to pull the posts from.

I hope you enjoy the new theme. Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think, I appreciate any feedback you have!

  22. Love it! Very different to the ‘other’ themes in the collection.

As a member I must get round to using at least one of them. Been too busy to get round to it!

  23. This theme rocks! Great job and great vision. I signed up as a member only a short time ago and couldn’t be happier.

Thanks so much for providing a perfect theme package.

  27. It looks amazing Nick, the illustrations came out really well! ๐Ÿ˜€

  28. Great work! It’s an astonishing theme that really stands out. Once again brilliant!

  29. l do love this theme like others but why do we need to much empty space on header always, banner would look nice l think because to much space has been wasted.

Other than that looks perfect, well done ๐Ÿ˜‰

  30. Great theme! I like it ๐Ÿ™‚

  31. I like it so much. It is one of my favourite. Scabs, lines, this style… It’s a style dat I LOVE.

Wonderful.. You are a great Web Designer (and developer to of course :))

  32. this is such a well designed beautiful theme! I cant stop staring at it! I hope you have more like this.

  33. Really like it. It’s quite different from the rest and I’m really digging the background illustration.

  34. Oh my god I love this. If you did this style but in more ‘girly’ colour palette it would be a huge hit with the craft/scrapbook market.
On another note, have you ever considered doing matching cubecart skins alongside your wordpress themes? There are so few good quality premium skins out there. i tried to do min myself but its pretty rubbish! Just a thought..

  35. This has to be my favourite release from Elegant Themes to date.

I love the look and the overall feel of the site. It’s professional and yet not typically corporate.

  36. This is fantastic! I love it! I’m going to play around with it! Thanks! ๐Ÿ˜€

  37. hi, you are a great designer and you have an opportunity to make your themes world class.

I’d love for you to add the following widgetised areas. (BTW I’m a subscriber and have tested this theme)

    1) before the entries

    2) after the entries

    3) below each entry

    4) inline each entry

I invite you to d/l the free semiologic theme ( and study the sidebars.

if you can include the sidebars that i mention in your themes, i’d be delighted as i could use your themes in earnest as i and others could set our adsense code once and concentrate on creating content.

Currently i need to add ad code into each post one by one.

If you would investigate my request I’m sure you’d recognize the value immediately.

    kind regards,

  38. Latest themes Ok but no use for general sites. Create useful themes for general news websites.

  39. Wow- really really nice work!!!

  40. Hi, i’m testing your latest theme. Looks great. One question about the image in the featured slider. In the readme file i read about the tab name, that listens to the custom field name Tab. But what do i have to use for the image?

    • I have the exact same problem, it’s been driving me CRAZY! Anyone know the answer?

      • You need to add the Thumbnail custom field, as explained in the readme file that came with the theme.

        • Nick, Can you please clarify this?

There is no information about how to add an image to the featured slider under the “How Do I Setup the Featured Slider on the homepage?” in the Minimal Theme readme.

I see the information about the thumbnail, but I am not looking to add a thumbnail size image. I have tried using “thumbnail” in the custom field and nothing comes up in the slider. The cache folder has been chmoded to 777.

          What are my options?

          • Please ignore my last post, I figured out what I was doing wrong.

            User error ftw.

        • please, how to remove “Tab custom field” and transform “home” in a simple blog equal the other pages? I would like the “home” was simple, without the “TAB CUSTOM FIELD” and RECENT, POPULAR, RANDOM…

          thank you from Brasil ๐Ÿ˜€

          • Please open a thread in the support forum so that we can assist you.

  41. Love these themes! I will be purchasing a membership later this month. This site came highly recommended and I can see why,

  42. Headsup, Buddy… the first item in the lower-right corner of your Front Page headlines “OneTheGo” when, upon further examination, viewers realize you mean ON the Go…

Small typo, but it IS yr first page…

    All best wishes,
Like yr stuff, will now see about buying in… ๐Ÿ˜€

  43. Glad to see that this site works well on my Google phone , everything I want to do is functional. Thanks for keeping it up to date with the latest.

  44. HI there…I tried to upload this theme three times Today but I alway got information that The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
    OnTheGoTheme Stylesheet is missing…

Please help me…I want to use this theme,

    • This occurs when you have uploaded the theme incorrectly. Be sure to read the included readme file. If you require additional assistance please open a thread in the support forum and we will assist you.

    • i have the same issue with the Polished theme … how did you resolve?

my upload seems correct and complete.

is this a WP 2.9 bug?

  45. Really nice theme, very unique style. Would love to see more hand drawn themes on here because I’d definitely use them.

  46. Hi! Great theme! How much is it?

  47. It looks very innovative as it is hand drawn, Good job

  48. It would be nice if it has a search and subscription features.

  49. This is a good template. I going to have to use it on my blog. thanks.

  50. It Very Buetifull

  51. Awesome theme Nick. But still I don’t understand how renamed the tabs in the featured slider on the homepage.
Maybe is neccesary that you explain it step by step.

    Well, that is all

    I waiting for your answer.

  52. I don’t know if you finally figured out how to rename the tabs, but the solution is :
When you’re writing an article, add a new field named “Tab”, and then give a value… that’s done !

  53. Hey, how difficult is it to have this, and your other themes, translated to another language, ie About, Random, Latest etc? Hardcoded?

  54. wordpress update 3.02 seems to break the ePanel under admin | appearance | OntheGo Theme Options| ePanel…

the screen seems to have lost it’s layout…

    • If you could please open a thread in the support forum we will be happy to assist you.

  55. hi nick,
i really love the theme. My question has to do with the custom field on the homepage. i read the readme file and am able to get the thumbnail to show on posts, but not for pages. I’ve set a featured image for the page, but it does not appear. also there is no ‘custom field’ option on pages, unlike posts. please advise.

  56. I loved the onthego theme, i will use it in the near future!!

  57. Thanks a lot for the information. It is always beneficial to learn from the gurus.
