New Theme: Anticipate

Today I am excited to release something a bit different than our normal theme release. Anticipate is a maintenance mode plugin that allows you to serve your visitors an alternate “coming soon” page while you work on building your real website in the background. Once activated, all of your visitors will be sent to the Anticipate landing page. When logged in as a WordPress Admin, however, your normal theme appears, allowing you to build your website seamlessly in the background without your visitors ever seeing your work in progress. This is also great way to establish an online presence and connect with your visitors before your website has even been released. To see the theme in action, check out the Live Demo. You can also take a look at the Features Page for more info.

Anticipate Features

1. Intuitive Plugins Options – Anticipate comes with an easy to use options page that allows to you configure the plugin in minutes.

2. Progress Bar and Coutndown – Anticipate comes with an animated countdown and progress bar, helping you to build hype about your upcoming release before its even ready. Simply define a completion date from within the plugin options page, and Anticipate does the rest!

3. Email Collection Form – The plugins includes an email subscribe form that allows interested visitors to add their email address to an interest list. These emails are stored in the database, and can be exported from within the options page. These emails can therefore be easily added to any third-party mailing list program.

4. jQuery Slider – The slider allows you to add a few short blurbs to the page to tell your visitors what you are all about. While I chose to use some short blurbs in the demo, there is no limited to how much content can be added to each slide.

I hope everyone enjoys the plugin. Be sure toย leaveย and comment letting us know what you think!

  1. Very useful plugin, downloaded it and used on one of my site which is currently under mantenance. You did it again, Nick!

    • Oh la la! this themes is very cool and useful

  2. Very cool.

  3. AWESOMEEEEEE! I can’t get enough of your work, you really push the boundaries of what the standard is.

    Great great job!

    • Sorry about that. I fixed the URL.

  4. This is MONEY!!

  5. Nice look! I would love to see one of these coming soon plugins connect to the mailchimnp API to avoid the extra step of importing into the program. Similar to how the Launch theme from press75 does it.

This also allows for the email services double opt in confirmation email to get sent out so the newsletter list is more likely to be filled with people who asked for it (and not somebody’s buddy putting their email address into a form to mess with them ๐Ÿ™‚

Any plans to add mailchimp support?

  6. Already tweeted about it but better write here for further reference.

Plugin/theme looks nice, however there should be an option to enable/disable the countdown, completed on and the submit email.

A mini contact form would be useful too.

Also, the “submit” button should have ‘cursor:pointer’ property and a ‘thank you’ message should be displayed after clicking the submit button.

  7. The perfect plugin for people plagued with procrastination! One question… can I have a “years” countdown?

Thanks Nick! This plugin is going into service tonight! (Right after supper, or tomorrow after lunch, or the day after, for sure as soon as I finish…) ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. I can’t wait to try this out! I’ve been struggling with building my site while it’s live for a while now, so this plug-in’s really going to come in handy. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. It’s kinda new to see plugins released by ET

    Nice work

  10. Thank you for such a great plug-in. The first one and the greatest one. Keep up good work. Great start of new year

    Thank you again

  11. no color options for the progress bar?

  12. I’m glad to see this relise, becouse we’ll see another theme – InStyle soon ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Nice system. I will probably use this for my bigger clients to announce the coming of there website to visitors or to have some body there before the actual website is programmed and designed.

  14. Awesome!

  15. GREAT!

  16. Very cool!

NB: “Receive” in the email form is misspelled.

  17. Thanks for the wonderful job you’ve done

  18. I thought this was going to simply be a theme but having it as a plug in in genius. I’m adding it to my WIP’s right now!

Once again ET reminds me why I love them!

  19. ALELUYA! Can’t believe it! I was just looking for something like ANTICIPATE! Is like an instant answer from heaven!!!!

  20. At last – now I can prepare sites without Google caching everything before it’s ready. No more turning on and off that index.html file.

  21. nice idea ๐Ÿ˜‰

  22. Hi,

How can I use this when setting up a new design for a website? Becaue you can use one theme at a time…. ( And i need the new time active to design it)

    • I see it’s a plug in, just what i needed!

  23. Wonderful plugin!!. I used it on my site and it looks great. Thanks Nick.

A small suggestion, I’d also prefer having launch date field (though can be calculated from the counter). I tried using the ‘Contact page’ but it did not work. Having a contact page would be great….

Anyways a very beautiful and useful plugin.

  24. Nick,

Awesome work as always, however, previewing your work while this plugin is activated results in a 404 error.

If I understand correctly we should be able to view the pages progress without interrupting the plugin?

    How is this accomplished?

  25. Beautiful & extremely useful. Thanks

  26. I was already interested in this plugin some time. This is very good.
Your themes and plugins are the best

  27. This is killer! You’re the man!
Only one question, can I put some sort of video (.mov/youtube/vimeo etc…) in pages and make it appear in this “plugin theme”? I want to do some trailer thingy like those big fat summer movies.

  28. Nice plugin!

  29. Hi Nick, is it possible to get in contact with you via phone/email? I’d like to ask about theme licensing, we want to license some themes as a hosted provider which appears to be disallowed under your T&Cs.

  30. Great stuff … looks awesome! Neat it’s a plugin; that’ll definitely be useful the next time I’m building a new site.

  31. Looks really great and is very helpful!

  32. You’ve put this in uncategorized yet again. Just wanted to let you know if in case you overlooked this small detail ๐Ÿ˜‰

  33. i love this kind of theme

  34. Looks as good as all Elegant Themes
Not sure if I’d use it but can see how useful it would be in some situations.

  35. Heeey, Your themes look amazing, thank you,

you wrote recive instead of receive in your live demo of anticipate theme by the way.

  36. does not work. I activated the plugin. theme does not change

  37. Me again. ) Say that the font used in the logo?

  38. I have it loaded on a site I am working on and the plugin works great, except a few small details I would like to see:

    1) E-mail integration with Aweber
    2) The progress bar doesnt advance as the time ticks down. For example if you start your progress bar at 70% it doesnt change to 75% as the time counts down and you have to manually change it randomly.
3)Be able to turn it on/off and not just activate deactivate.

Overall pretty good and perfect if you can incorporate any of the above.

  39. Great work. looks ace!

  40. we want mobile themes now ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

  41. i’ve got a little bug. the date isn’t shown correctly. everythings fine, exept the date. the is only displayed this: “nan days, nan hours, nan minutes, nan seconds” but i selected a date via plugin. anybody advise?

    • I have the same issue and Google offers no answers.

Any help from the ET team?

  42. This plugin is awesome. Already have it running on a couple of my sites. Thanks!

  43. The plugin is not working properly on our end. Its showing 503 Service Unavailable error. Can you please tell me what’s wrong?

  44. so cool,like it!

  45. Wondering if it is buddypress-compatible, and wondering same thing for the other Elegant Themes…

  46. amazing little plug in! it is great — you guys freakin’ rock!

  47. Hi I have a problem with the plugin
    I said “503 Service Unavailable
The server is currently unavailable (Because it is overloaded or down for maintenance). [2] Generally, this is a temporary state.
    What can be happening?

  48. I have the same problem !

After move the website and a record

I get this error too :/

I try to reinstall it but always get 503 :/

    Maybe IIS 7 incompatible ?
    Some “php header” problem ?

  49. hi all, great plugin except it doesn’t work on IIS7, getting the “service unavailable” message with 503.

Did anyone find a solution to this?

  50. Awesome way to serve up a splash page while you are working on the production theme.

  51. how can i use it as the face of the site?

  52. How do I install this on wordpress.. it says its missing the .index file and the stylesheet. It also didnt work as a plug in.. I am confused! Please help!

  53. I like this plugin. Can I use it on any word press site, with any theme, not just an “Elegant Theme?

    • Yes, you can.

  54. This plugin is awesome. thanks

  55. Got it working on my site, however no emails are being retained.

  56. Hi, I used this plugin in WordPress Network mode, but I canยดt activate or deactivate for individualy sites, only deactivate plugin for all sites. Any solution for this?

  57. Hey, Nick! I love the themes. Question: the logo I have tried to implement is incessantly off-center from everything else, and the flexibility to change that element is decidedly limited from the settings panel that comes with it. Is there a way to fix this? The offending website is listed in my website above.

Also, is there a way to remove social buttons not required or being used by the theme? The website does not have a Twitter account, and I don’t need the button to be there.

    • Oops, sorry: I’ll check out the forums!

  58. Mobile version would be nice too. My mobile homepage still shows original theme that i installed. Thanks tho.

  59. You have fulfilled my needs before I loudly spoke them out ๐Ÿ˜‰ Anticipate is what I needed! It helped me to work on my website without showing the users the half-results of the current construction working. Besides, the countdown bar works perfect for heating-up the expectations effect. Good work & thanks;-)

  60. the Anticipate is a Nice plugin however, the countdown timer refuses to change from what it was update to, so i can extend completion time.

    • Please open a ticket in our support forums so that our team can assist you. Sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems.

    • This is happening to me on several sites too. Definitely a buggy plugin.

  61. Is there a way to make this responsive or am I missing something?

  62. So…..whens this getting an update ๐Ÿ˜‰

When i create an “maintenance” page on divi, people can still get to the pages that are under construction, either by guessing urls, or via google.
