New Theme: Anticipate

Today I am excited to release something a bit different than our normal theme release. Anticipate is a maintenance mode plugin that allows you to serve your visitors an alternate “coming soon” page while you work on building your real website in the background. Once activated, all of your visitors will be sent to the Anticipate landing page. When logged in as a WordPress Admin, however, your normal theme appears, allowing you to build your website seamlessly in the background without your visitors ever seeing your work in progress. This is also great way to establish an online presence and connect with your visitors before your website has even been released. To see the theme in action, check out the Live Demo. You can also take a look at the Features Page for more info.

Anticipate Features

1. Intuitive Plugins Options – Anticipate comes with an easy to use options page that allows to you configure the plugin in minutes.

2. Progress Bar and Coutndown - Anticipate comes with an animated countdown and progress bar, helping you to build hype about your upcoming release before its even ready. Simply define a completion date from within the plugin options page, and Anticipate does the rest!

3. Email Collection Form – The plugins includes an email subscribe form that allows interested visitors to add their email address to an interest list. These emails are stored in the database, and can be exported from within the options page. These emails can therefore be easily added to any third-party mailing list program.

4. jQuery Slider – The slider allows you to add a few short blurbs to the page to tell your visitors what you are all about. While I chose to use some short blurbs in the demo, there is no limited to how much content can be added to each slide.

I hope everyone enjoys the plugin. Be sure to leave and comment letting us know what you think!

    Very cool.

  3. AWESOMEEEEEE! I can’t get enough of your work, you really push the boundaries of what the standard is.

    Great great job!

  4. The Live Demo doesn’t work :(

    This is MONEY!!

  6. Rodney says:

Nice look! I would love to see one of these coming soon plugins connect to the mailchimnp API to avoid the extra step of importing into the program. Similar to how the Launch theme from press75 does it.

This also allows for the email services double opt in confirmation email to get sent out so the newsletter list is more likely to be filled with people who asked for it (and not somebody’s buddy putting their email address into a form to mess with them :)

Any plans to add mailchimp support?

  7. Enrico says:

Already tweeted about it but better write here for further reference.

Plugin/theme looks nice, however there should be an option to enable/disable the countdown, completed on and the submit email.

A mini contact form would be useful too.

Also, the “submit” button should have ‘cursor:pointer’ property and a ‘thank you’ message should be displayed after clicking the submit button.

    Thanks.

  8. Eric says:

The perfect plugin for people plagued with procrastination! One question… can I have a “years” countdown?

Thanks Nick! This plugin is going into service tonight! (Right after supper, or tomorrow after lunch, or the day after, for sure as soon as I finish…) :)

  9. Stephanie says:

I can’t wait to try this out! I’ve been struggling with building my site while it’s live for a while now, so this plug-in’s really going to come in handy. :)

Nice system. I will probably use this for my bigger clients to announce the coming of there website to visitors or to have some body there before the actual website is programmed and designed.

    Thanx!

  22. Chris says:

At last – now I can prepare sites without Google caching everything before it’s ready. No more turning on and off that index.html file.

  23. Martin says:

    nice idea ;)
    thx!

  24. Wop says:

    Hi,

    Gr8..

How can I use this when setting up a new design for a website? Becaue you can use one theme at a time…. ( And i need the new time active to design it)

  25. Aravind D says:

Wonderful plugin!!. I used it on my site and it looks great. Thanks Nick.

A small suggestion, I’d also prefer having launch date field (though can be calculated from the counter). I tried using the ‘Contact page’ but it did not work. Having a contact page would be great….

Anyways a very beautiful and useful plugin.

  26. Nick,

Awesome work as always, however, previewing your work while this plugin is activated results in a 404 error.

If I understand correctly we should be able to view the pages progress without interrupting the plugin?

    How is this accomplished?

  27. RichardSouth says:

    Beautiful & extremely useful. Thanks

  28. I was already interested in this plugin some time. This is very good.
Your themes and plugins are the best

  29. Song Ha says:

This is killer! You’re the man!
Only one question, can I put some sort of video (.mov/youtube/vimeo etc…) in pages and make it appear in this “plugin theme”? I want to do some trailer thingy like those big fat summer movies.

  30. chad says:

Hi Nick, is it possible to get in contact with you via phone/email? I’d like to ask about theme licensing, we want to license some themes as a hosted provider which appears to be disallowed under your T&Cs.

  31. Matthew Guay says:

Great stuff … looks awesome! Neat it’s a plugin; that’ll definitely be useful the next time I’m building a new site.

  32. WPHell says:

Looks really great and is very helpful!

  33. Kevin Paquet says:

You’ve put this in uncategorized yet again. Just wanted to let you know if in case you overlooked this small detail ;)

  34. Putri says:

i love this kind of theme

  35. Keith Davis says:

Looks as good as all Elegant Themes
Not sure if I’d use it but can see how useful it would be in some situations.

  36. impulse says:

Heeey, Your themes look amazing, thank you,

you wrote recive instead of receive in your live demo of anticipate theme by the way.

  37. lzolotarev says:

does not work. I activated the plugin. theme does not change

  38. lzolotarev says:

Me again. ) Say that the font used in the logo?

  39. Kevin says:

I have it loaded on a site I am working on and the plugin works great, except a few small details I would like to see:

    1) E-mail integration with Aweber
    2) The progress bar doesnt advance as the time ticks down. For example if you start your progress bar at 70% it doesnt change to 75% as the time counts down and you have to manually change it randomly.
3)Be able to turn it on/off and not just activate deactivate.

Overall pretty good and perfect if you can incorporate any of the above.

    Cheers

  43. AJ Clarke says:

This plugin is awesome. Already have it running on a couple of my sites. Thanks!

  44. YFC Cebu says:

The plugin is not working properly on our end. Its showing 503 Service Unavailable error. Can you please tell me what’s wrong?

  45. Bob Walsh says:

Wondering if it is buddypress-compatible, and wondering same thing for the other Elegant Themes…

  46. liliavilla says:

amazing little plug in! it is great — you guys freakin’ rock!

  47. andres says:

Hi I have a problem with the plugin
    I said “503 Service Unavailable
The server is currently unavailable (Because it is overloaded or down for maintenance). [2] Generally, this is a temporary state.
    What can be happening?

  48. Fabrizio says:

I have the same problem !

After move the website and a record

I get this error too :/

I try to reinstall it but always get 503 :/

    Maybe IIS 7 incompatible ?
    Some “php header” problem ?

  49. wayne lee says:

hi all, great plugin except it doesn’t work on IIS7, getting the “service unavailable” message with 503.

Did anyone find a solution to this?

    Thanks

    Wayne
