Theme Sneak Peek: Aggregate

Production never stops here at ElegantThemes, and today I am pleased to give everyone another sneak peek at one of our upcoming designs. There have been many requests lately for us to create another Magazine-Style Theme, and that’s exactly what we plan to do! Aggregate will bring together all of the features that a news site requires, and will display loads of content in an uncluttered and elegant fashion. I hope that you like what you see. Please leave a comment and let us know what you think :)

  1. Very clean! Love your style Nick, definitely a great addition to the portfolio.

    • I agree! This theme look amazing. I can’t wait for this one. Great job!

  2. Aaah, That’s the theme i wanted for my next project. Release it as soon as possible.

  3. love it, cant wait to use it

  4. Ohhh this one looks very nice. I wish you guys would stop making me want to change my themes…. lol =]

  5. I may use this for thesandyplace this looks nice.

  6. Very nice theme Nick i’m always glad i’m a subscriber.

    Some quick questions :

can we get rid of the 3 columns between the slider and the most recent articles ? (to keep it bloggy)

is it possible to keep the thumbnail bar of the slider, without the slider itself ? (to just have a row of thumbnails between the navigation and the blogposts)

  7. looks GREAT.

I can’t wait for it to be released!

  8. This looks like a very nice theme Nick. Just wondering…

    1. Is there a way to minimize/reduce the space above and below the “aggregate” logo?

    2. I don’t like the logo centered. Can the logo be positioned to the “left” so it is flush with the banner image without having to code it? If so then you’ve sold one more!

Please post an image on your blog with these changes if you can. Thanks.

  9. As alway, another slick, well organized, contemporary yet timeless design. Keep up the great work…

  10. very beautiful very nice work

  11. Great design and layout (as usual)… I’m curious to find out its different ‘moods’ or colour schemes. (?)

Not to give you any ideas but the yearly membership is peanuts compare to what and all is included… Thanks again!

    • It was $19 when I joined. Steady increase is still worth it. Designs are great, but the best part of ET is the support. Can’t be beat in my opinion!

  12. Super impressed with this design. Can’t wait to get my hands on it to try it out.

  13. Wow, this will get you a lot more customers Nick. I will spread the word as much as I can :). Aggregate seems to be a solid winner.

  14. Is there an option to change the featured slider to something smaller? Preferable something similar to IGN’s or GameSpot’s?

  15. Theme looks professional and perfect for business sites. will grab it once it is released.

    Thanks

  16. Luv it! BUT… as with “Simple Press,” I wish you’d narrow down the header-area (its height), so that more of the content below can be Above-The-Fold.
Those with the technical savvy to narrow it themselves or those with an eye-catching logo or font that they want to highlight probably the least affected.
Luv it, though – hurry and get ‘er done!

  17. Fantastic! Knew something HOT was brewing back there behind closed doors ;) TheSource and TheStyle were my fav’s, but this looks like another on my list. Have a site waiting for a template like this, so perfect timing ET!!!

    Deb

  18. I think I can use this one. I know I will play with it to possibly replace a theme I am already using. Good job.

  19. Great and fantastic new design. I think ElegantThemes’s team is fantastic, always offering better templates. Actually I use one of your templates in my electronic magazine.
    Best regards,

  20. I can’t wait for it. Actually I use one of ElegantThemes’ at my electronic magazine.

Best regards for all ElegantThemes team.

    Luiz Fernando Santos

  21. ElegantThemes is always releasing Elegant Themes. :-)

    Waiting for release…

  22. I simply love most of all Elegant Themes’ templates and, actually, I use one of the magazines templates in the electronic magazine, which I’m editor-in-chief.

All the best for U all ET’s team,

    Mary Jo Zilveti

  23. Any chance this one will not have timthumb? I absolutely hate that pig of a script and would really enjoy not having to swap it out for WordPress thumbnails my self :)

    • All of our themes support the native WordPress thumbnail feature. So there is no need to use timthumb if you don’t want to.

  24. As is a magazine style don’t forget to use different Featured Slideshow as it can be used in differents ways.

    Great work

  25. Great work, Nick … yet again! Cast my vote for ET in the theme madness – hope it wins it for you! Lol. You deserve it.

  26. Very nicely done. It’s very clean and I know just the perfect project for it. Keep up the great work!

  27. Very nice theme nick!! Release soon can’t wait for this. Nice job

  28. Nooooooooo… what we’re you thinking???

Now I’ll suffer from days of eager anticipation until it’s released.

Excellent stuff, definitely a thumbs up for this one.

    • LOL … My thoughts too! I can’t wait.. :)

The other problem I have is that every time I finally settle on a theme and start putting together my new site, a new one comes along that i love and the whole process starts again.. Not that I am complaining, it’s a sign of a GREAT design company!

      Keep it up Nick!

  29. As usual, good work and new fresh looking layout.

  30. wholly crap thats fantastic! :) i just checked out ur upcoming chameleon before checking this one out and now im even more excited with this one – offers allot of eye candy. great to see this News theme! just wat i was looking for. thanks so much team cant wait for the release, how soon?

  31. Vielen Dank auch aus Deutschland für das professionelle webDesign.

Thanks for your professional webDesign from Germany too.

    Best Regards JP

  32. Nice! Just what I’ve secretly hoped for.

  33. hi guys, will there be a search button integrated not seeing on sneak peek? keep up the slick designs

  34. It all looks very similar nowadays. I get a feeling that very few designers are thinking beyond the slider fashion sites anymore. This is a fantastic and beautiful layout nevertheless. I just wished there would be some really new ideas though. Still I am very positive about your work with these elegant designs, Nick & Co. Excellent.

  35. It would be nice it you would allow 728×90 ads to be displayed. Top (above fold) and bottom of page (perhaps above footer). Take a look at large online magazines – 468×60 is not that popular anymore and/or as requested. Thanks

  36. Theme looks professional and perfect for business sites. will grab it once it is released. Thanks

  37. Already have a project in mind for this one. Can’t wait ’til it comes out!

  38. Stop reading my mind! ;-) I have been waiting for a theme like this for one of my own sites that is shifting focus.

I love the double nav and photostreams and built in monetization widgets.

Good job, Nick — as usual!

  39. yes nick this is. I love it so much. I hope to have more good themes for news and for other activities. goodjob…

  40. This theme looks really good , I can’t wait any longer

  41. OMG This is perfect (almost) for my new company blog. First one actually. A small 1 person company only. And i was about to blow 2k$ for a custom made blog…

If only the area for slider would be shortened so that on the right side of it i could put a newsletter opt-in box with the rss, twitter and facebook icons… that would made my day for main blog page.

As i will have 3 major categories with few subcategories in them those 3 rows below pictures are perfect for my category organisation. And if only it would allow a little more text at ‘recent from’ columns. Would be superb.

    • Hey Piotr, can’t believe you were going to spend that much on a custom blog! That’s certainly dedication! :)

I shouldn’t really mention the ‘competition’, because I love Elegant Themes and am about to join, but just to let you know, …. Solostream has a lot of magazine/company style themes, with the sliders you want (both narrow and wide layouts), to allow for the optin subscriptions, rss and social media icons to be above the fold… you can also arrange posts by category, or standard blog layout, plus inbuilt social media icons, footer widget options, youtube video widget players, tabbed widgets, multiple page template options (including sales pages on more recent ones), color options, subscribe features, rss, search, etc – … they are now advancing to create ‘frameworks/templates’ rather than just ‘themes’, so can do a lot more modifications to overall look on pages and posts, with for example, featured post sliders, featured video sliders and featured gallery sliders (for any page or post), category icon widgets, page icon widgets, etc.

They don’t however, have the fantastic short-codes of Elegant Themes, and other features. Solostream themes are also more expensive for multi-licenses (ie. use on more than one site) and single licenses (although there is a (3for1 offer at moment).

Wish there would be a merger here, so could benefit from both!

Perhaps this comment here will give some ideas for ET in terms of new themes ;)

Can’t believe I didn’t join this ET site before I purchased my SoloStream theme though, after looking through the features in more detail!

      • Hhehe ye i guess im dedicated. Im the kind of all or nothing guy. A damned perfectionist.

After one day consideration i have slowed down my enthusiasm tho and now i guess i will get this theme from ET and customize and translate it.

If u want a good non standard look for a blog main page, a blog that also makes money look (just for ideas and comparison) on Dave Navarro’s site/blog at: http://www.thelaunchcoach.com
Can you see how brilliantly a large area for latest post almost immediately draws you into reading this last entry? And isnt that the main purpose? To engage reader and then only then serve him more, then more? This can be in turn achieved by adding a similar posts in footer area i believe. Along with social media box and sign in for newsletter again.

If you add row just below that box for recent post at dave’s site that has 3 boxes for latest – or featured posts from each category ( i will have 3 categories on my blog)…

that strikes perfect thing for me.

Then add a good typography for post pagewith custom fonts and dropcaps and pullquotes.

Im really amazed that noone came up with this idea as i believe all of it supports the most basic and critical thing for a blog that wants to earn money with inforpoducts – get people to read and then sign in for newsletter.

        Maybe add an additional page

There you have: a perfect setup for a blog and reason why i wanted to blow 2k$ for one :)

I hope you can get some ideas from what i ‘ve written. Im gonna talk to 2 designers tommorow and if one of them creates a theme for me i might send you files :)

  42. Oh Man… This is perfect! Cannot wait to play around with it! Great Work!

    Note:
Not sure if this is intended or a just a bug, but to the ET team, your latest blog posts are not showing on the home page.

    Just throwing it out there.

Please keep up the great work!

    ~kraymer

  43. Hi Nick,

Congratulations, once more! As usual, the the looks just great.

Maybe you could offer some additional options for this theme:

    – ad spaces using the new IAB ad units (http://www.iab.net/iab_products_and_industry_services/508676/508767/Ad_Unit),as Gus mentioned before

    – horizontal ad spaces (728×90 leaderboards?) between the slider and the 3 post categories and maybe under post categories and recent posts

    – 6 or 9 post categories on the homepage instead of just six

    – a second preset thumbnail size (maybe a larger, horizontal option?)

Of course some of this options would remove most of the theme’s beaty but would help a lot publishers of e-magazines.

    Regards,

    Amadeu

  44. Sick theme man, you just keep em comin’ dont ya?

  45. After seeing this theme, I am holding the development of my Webopreneur blog.

Please release it soon so that I can use it.

    Great theme.

  46. Jesus Christ, talk about perfect timing! This is THE theme I’ve been looking for but never found here on Elegantthemes. Lo and behold, here it is. Can’t wait man. No seriously…cannot wait for this to get released!

  47. It’s realy amazing! Great Work! Good luck in your business!

  48. Looks great. Can’t wait.

    Thank you guys. :)

  49. Excellent work! Where only the ideas come from :)

  50. Nick, when are you going to release this theme? I am eagerly waiting to use it :)

  51. That’s a theme for me!
I was just wandering if it was possible to have more sliders like the one for the videos (that’s the slider, right?) for the news, banners etc.

  52. Hi, Nick!

Could you make optional the big slider? Something I can exchange for the last post, for example…?

I like this design, I would use it with this suggestion (pleasssse) :)

  53. by the way, I’m having trouble with formatting text (is a wordpress issue, not ET) and looked at google where I confirmed is an universal issue. Would you consider someday make a plugin to format text nicely?
    Thanks in advance!

  54. Really looks great! Looking forward to it’s release. Thanks.

  55. Hey, Looks like another great theme. Just wondering if you can start including a pop-in/up optin (to a newsletter/email training series) box we can use (or not) on our sites to build our email lists. Currently I have to install a plugin to do this but the free or affordable ones are not very good. Can do?

    • I second this…

  56. Love the fact that it’s got 2 nav bars – very necessary. Please make it easy to REDUCE the vertical space between them – that’s tons of space on a small screen.

    Thanks

  57. I love it!!!

  58. Patiently waiting on this one :)

I’m planning on shrinking the sidebar to accommodate a 160×600 ad, and putting it on a webmagazine I run.

  59. Unlike Lyndsy Simon above, I’m ‘impatiently’ waiting for this one… I’ve never been like this before, so I’m not sure what’s happening to me ;)

  60. … will it be out this week, next week? Ugh, it’s like I snooped in my parent’s closet at Christmas time and the waiting is killing me!!!

    • @ Deborah: agree! Can’t wait to try this out.

@ Nick: Any comments on release date?

  61. hoping will have some options for colors, darker background. keep up the good work
    :)

    • Patience is virtue, patience is virtue, patience is virteu…

  62. Dear Nick,

We are all waiting for Aggregate. :)

  63. PLS PLS release Aggregate! You guys rock!

  64. Is this theme going to have 3 columns? I hope so…I could definitely use 2 columns in my sidebar

  65. When are you going to release this theme?

  66. ElegantThemes is always releasing Elegant Themes.

  67. Can someone tell me why the most recent articles section is coming up. Doesn’t that section just take the latest post that you made and then adds it to that section?

    Heres the link
