I second Keith’s thought and idea. I just think that it’s a lot of hassle to go through all the changes one made over a couple of months (or even years).

Upgrading it through the dashboard would be the easiest and I guess the most secure way as well.

Hi, I Just updated the theme of on of my blogs but the customization that I made where all cancelled by new files, title included. Not too bad because I did a little on that theme.

But I also have a professional blog (I have got clients going on there) where I made (with you big help) lots of customizations on the css files.

How can update the theme without lost the customizations?
