Shortcodes Are In Development

Many of our users have expressed their desire for design shortcodes. Today I am pleased to announce that we have begun developing a comprehensive set of design shortcodes that will be released soon for all of our themes. These shortcodes will focus on design elements such as buttons, columns, tabs, sliders, galleries, social media and more. I am confident that the additions of these will help bring your WordPress experience to a whole new level! Stay tuned for their release in the coming weeks.

This is a very good decision. I love shortcodes and the ability to insert a column or button wherever I want.

Sounds very cool! One question: will the themes have to be reinstalled if we are already running them? or will this feature work as more of a peripheral set of codes?
I’m not sure at this point, but we will do what we can to make the transition easy.
hope you can make sort of “one click upgrade” something like that
1 Click upgrade is a bad idea because there are also people who never even bought the theme (pirated theme)

I have a request …. Alot of ET stuff seems to have that rounded/3d look, which is cool – but not for everything :^)
can there be a set of short codes which have a more flat/geometric look to them?

I struggled a bit, but found a way to retrofit one of my themes with shortcode. I wrote a blog post about it to help others.

Very nice. I’m still trying to learn how all this stuff in WordPress works. It’s a bit overwhelming for me. Alot of your themes give me inspiration for my own designs. Keep up the good work!

Excellent. I’d really love a few shortcodes for text things like pullquotes, alerts, notes, etc…
This is great news! I wish I knew this was in development here at Elegant Themes last week though – I could have saved $40 because I just bought the “Awake” WordPress theme at TF for the sole purpose of deconstructing it’s shortcodes

Gotta love Shortcodes. They do make a point of (visual) difference. Smallish icons and buttons… nice.

Nick, this is a great idea. I’m amazed at the rate of development you continue to display. Just one thing – I’d love to see more CMS (business) themes… the shortcodes idea might make it easier to create more flexible business CMS sites, in particular, being able to tuck blog posts out of the way in a more controlled manner on the main menus. (joined up as a developer this week, and loving the material)

That would be brilliant, it would solve all my problems, finding plugins that I really don’t know what I’m doing, which gets frustrating (of course this has nothing to do with u guys, cos ur work and forum are absolutely awesome). All I ever want form wp is just to write my content, but for this newbie I just make a right mess of it.

Wow! great! I hope you would provide a separate set of css file as well! As I have already modified my theme a lot! So would be keen if u provide a separate file or at least a separate section from where we can copy
Can´t wait to try that out. And – like many others – I hope that implementing will be easy. I´ve just went through modifying my Glow-Version to WP 3.0 and Glow 1.9. But beside that – it´s so great to see how you keep up to date. I´ve been really thankful for the translation files and with that new feature I´ll have SUCH an incredible ET-Theme!

Great nick, i love the shortcuts it reduce the the waist of time.I am in waiting for them you guys rock with theme and now with shortcut buttons amazing.
Makes me sick sick sick sick, why? do you good people ask. Having spend good money on so-called best WP template design programme and now to find this site, makes me sick and very happy. Will turf the other stuff. This does WP justice and is simply mouthwatering designs. a-la-carte
