We are happy to announce that we have released a second theme, Origin, on the WordPress.com platform. For those who want to use our beautiful design, but don’t want to deal with setting up a hosting account, WordPress.com is a great option. They had to change the name of the theme due to a naming conflict, but I can assure you that it’s the same great design. 🙂

A Beautiful Theme That’s A Pleasure To Use

Origin is fluid and responsive blogging theme that takes your standard list of posts and transforms them into a stunning and colorful display of imagery. With Origin, you give your visitors the pleasure of a truly engaging browsing experience. If you are looking for a fun alternative to the traditional blog layout, then Origin is the perfect theme for you.

We first released Origin back in October 2012, and we are excited to re-release it into the WordPress.com marketplace. I can’t wait to get more of our themes into the hands of WordPress.com users. Which theme do you think we should release next? Let us know what you think!

  1. I have bought the template for my website, and I want to put the titles of my pages just like you have them in the demo (cutting the left side of the image), but I can´t find out how to do that. Could you please help me?

  2. this is really awesome framework for wordpress…. thx for Elegant Team.. nice one.

  3. I love the demo images on the site, where do you get them from, who are the artists?

    • Another amazing theme for e marketers . For shure all bloggers conected with kids will be happy. Thank you Nick !

  4. After I originally commented I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments
are added- checkbox and from now on whenever
a comment is added I get 4 emails with the exact
same comment. Perhaps there is a way you are able to remove me from
    that service? Kudos!

  5. Hi there :’). Do you have a place to ask quick technical support questions, or will here do?

    If so…
I’ve got this theme and I love it a lot. Although I’m not terribly fond of the text for the pages on the navigation menu/sidebar inheriting the same colour as the background when the link is hovered over? I was just wondering how to set it up so that I could change that link colour?

  6. My suggestion for a future theme on wp.com would be Fable. Fable is responsive, as well as blogging focused. It’s also very modern. WordPress.com has a significant number of users that mainly use WordPress for blogging. This would be a great fit in my opinion.

    • Thanks for the suggestion Tim, I couldn’t agree more. Fable is a challenging theme to release on WP.com due to limitations we have in modifying the backend to allow for custom post format displays, but perhaps we can find a creative middle-ground that will let us release the theme without having to sacrifice too much of the design structure.

  7. great work but i wonder can this theme be used for tech and health blogs ?

  8. Great News You deserve and your got my congrats

    • Thanks Parveen – your congratulations are much appreciated 🙂

  9. This is a nice theme. But is this a child theme? If it is, then if there are any updates to this theme in future, then the entire settings you have done on this theme will be erased.

Which means you have to redo all your preferred settings all over again.

    • You are free to create child themes when using a WordPress powered website, but not when you are hosting on WodPress.com. Child Themes have no relevance on their system as you are not permitted to modify the theme files to begin with, outside of CSS tweaks.

  10. Image themes cool. Congratulations!

    • Thanks!

  11. WordPress.com has changed Origin name to Nexus that same name as the latest theme of Elegant Themes. I’m thinking about another change when you release the Nexus theme on WordPress.com.
Btw, this is the good chance for more WordPress users to enjoy the perfect Origin theme 🙂
I’m using InReview for my website, so I hope it will be on WordPress.com too 🙂

    • Thanks Alex, we appreciate the suggestion!

  12. That’s the another great news for WordPress lover……

    • Thanks Dhaval!

  13. Good step taken by ET team. Having presence in WordPress.com is a matter of feeling proud.

    Congratulations to Nick.

    • Thanks Ashmita! We are definitely proud to be among the select few designers on WordPress.com 🙂

  14. Month ago i pay $249 for a life time membership.
Now, i found that @JuanCarlosOlaya aka @ProSocialMediaM aka @Generar_Trafico are giving away yours 85 themes.

Why do I have to pay for something that you allow one of your customers, deliver free of charge?

    Regards

    Peter Longworth

    • Peter,

If you like the themes, you should support the company that makes them. It’s as simple as that.

Also, you never know what you’re going to get with “free” themes that someone is giving away. People inject all sorts of vicious code into themes that can hack your site. You should never trust free themes. Why would they give something away unless they had some sort of ulterior motive…

Lastly, you don’t get support and updates like you would as a ET customer.

      • I can’t count the number of times people have emailed us about their site getting hacked, only to find that they are not a customer at all and they have actually downloaded the theme from thepiratebay along with malicious javascript in its footer!

    • The difference between giveaway and membership is to be supported by Elegant Developers 24/7. And you have access to all of new themes that will be released monthly. I guarantee to pay for membership because I appreciate what Elegant Themes offers and supports. Not for great products only, it’s for great services as well! Don’t you?

      • Thanks for the support George. I agree that there are many benefits to having a membership with Elegant Themes. Not only do you get the themes, but you are guaranteed support and theme updates, which means your website will never break and will be much more secure than if you were to run an old version of the theme that was downloaded from an unverified. source.

    • You can request a refund if you don’t think we deserve your money and you would rather not support us.

  15. may be one more E-Commerce

    • Unfortunately we can’t create eCommerce themes for WordPress.com due to their limited array of plugins. However, we will definitely be making new eCommerce themes here at ElegantThemes.com 🙂

  16. This is an Great news. Origin is beautiful design an ideal for Freelancer and designers.

    • You are Totally Right Dipak… good

  17. Yet-another-amazing theme! Thank you Nick!

    • Thanks Peter. I am sure that the user’s of WP.com will enjoy it as much as out customers here have!

      • Hello, i already review your template, but i don’t know why i can’t change the tagline..

Can you tell me how to change the tagline via origin template please?

        Thank you

    • Great News!
