Looking To The Past

It seems like just yesterday that I registered ElegantThemes.com in my college campus apartment and launched the service with a single theme, BlueSky. Late nights and double espressos fueled my excitement and kept the new themes coming as I searched for time between classes and school projects to focus on design. What was once a small hobby with a few customers has grown into a community of 180,000 lovely members, a collection of 82 beautiful themes, and a team of 20 amazing employees. Each year brings exciting new challenges, and I can’t wait to see what the next one has in store for us.

Looking To The Future

Our plan for the future is to continue bringing you more of the best themes and plugins around for a price that can’t be beat. To do this we need to grow our team, which is why we have been working hard to build out a new office in my hometown of San Francisco where we will be welcoming new designers and developers into the Elegant Themes family This year I hope to greatly increase efficiency and improve the turnaround on theme releases and bug fixes with the help of our new talent. TheStyle Now Available on WordPress.com

Elegant Themes has been working with the folks at WordPress.com to help bring our themes their users. TheStyle is the first of our themes to be released on the WordPress.com platform, and we are excited to continue bringing more of our products into their marketplace in the future! For those who prefer to use the more automated system of WordPress.com to create their websites, you will be pleased to hear that more and more of our designs will soon become available to you

WordPress 3.5 Has Been Released

WordPress 3.5, aka “WordPress Elvin,” was released today. You will be happy to know that we have already been testing and updating our themes based on each 3.5 RC, and all themes should already be compatible with the new version of WordPress. Our plugins have also been tested and updated, so be sure to upgrade the Elegant Builder to version 2.2 to avoid any potential problems. Before updating, just make sure that you are using the latest version of your theme and that you follow the WordPress best practices for updates. This includes making a backup of your installation and disabling your plugins before hitting that update button! For more information on 3.5, swing by the WordPress.org Blog.

Theme Security Audit By Sucuri

The security of our customers is extremely important to us. While I have complete confidence in our developers and their secure coding practices, I still like to have our code audited regularly by third party security experts to make sure that no critical issues have slipped through the cracks. Most recently, we approached Sucuri to do an intensive audit of one of our newest themes, Lucid, and along with it the ePanel codebase, Shortcodes Collection and Page Templates that power our entire collection of themes.

After two weeks of extensive testing by their team and their partners at WebDev Studios, Sucuri has reported that zero critical issues were found and that the theme has been awarded the Sucuri Safe Seal without any required updates.

While I didn’t expect there to be any major issues in the first place, this type of review is a great validation to our team and their efforts. I am pleased to know that the coding practices that we use are air-tight. Going forward, we will continue to keep your security at the top of our priority list and to collaborate with security experts to ensure that we are leveraging every possible tool to do so!
